Easy training and social walk at Tres Rios Wetlands – Part of the Sun Circle and Maricopa Trails.
The Tres Rios Wetland is a unique place in the Valley: a WETLAND in the middle of the desert!! This area is worth the trip and is home to more than 150 different species of birds and animals. You are welcome to bring your binoculars but if you are a birder seeking frequent stops, plan on coming back to spend more time at this great birding spot. If you are interested in completing the Maricopa Trail or the Sun Circle Trail someday, this walk is a segment of both. Bring your sense of adventure and reminisce about walking along water on the Camino Frances (Logrono, Sarria, Melide to name a few).
Total distance: 6 miles easy (no shade)
Elevation gain: Not significant but not level either.
Time: ~ 3 hours (leisurely pace)
There are no restrooms, water fountains, garbage bins or maintained trails, so plan accordingly.
BRING: Sturdy walking shoes, water, a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, a hiking toilet kit or your own snacks/lunch if desired.
Please stay home if you are sick or not feeling well.
