Join us on this walk that takes place on the first Saturday of the month, rain or shine! We meet at the “The Columns” (aka Pergola) on the northeast corner of Oakland’s Lake Merritt at 10:30 AM and start walking by 10:45 AM. It’s a flat, paved 3.5-mile walk around the lake that takes a little over an hour.
During the walk, we hold a shell ceremony and invite new pilgrims departing this year to receive a scallop shell, a traditional symbol of the Camino. Afterwards, we usually grab lunch in the area. Whether you’re a newbie or Camino veteran, everyone is welcome. No RSVP required – just show up!
Directions: Take BART to the Lake Merritt or 19th Street Oakland station and navigate your way to The Columns (~1.5 mi). If you drive, make sure to give yourself enough time to find parking as there are many activities on Saturday mornings around the lake. FYI: There’s a small fee lot nearby at the corner of Euclid and Grand Avenues. Here’s a map.
The Ruff Stuff: For insurance purposes, we are unable to welcome dogs, except service animals, at our events.
