Join us on Saturday, September 24! We will hike around the edges of Little Neck Bay in Queens, walking 7-8 miles over 4-5 hours. Please meet at Penn Station’s LIRR ticket window at 10:00am. We will take the train that departs at 10:18am. Please buy a round trip or at least a one way ticket to Little Neck. We will arrive about a half hour later. Drivers should be at the Little Neck station at 10:50am. There is a fee-based parking lot at the station. Drivers will need to take the train or a taxi or rideshare back to Little Neck as we end the hike at the Bayside LIRR station.

The hike will be mostly flat, on quiet side streets, sidewalks, dirt and paved paths through residential areas and city parkland. The highlight will be visiting Fort Totten, a Civil War era fort, now part city park, FDNY facility and still partially a military base. The hike will end near the Bayside LIRR station, the hub of a commercial area with many opportunities for a post hike social hour (food/drink). There are options for early outs along the way. The first opportunity for a bathroom/refreshment break is about an hour in and then there are bathrooms every half hour or so after. You might want to use bathrooms at Penn or on the train. Please bring water and a light snack, but there are opportunities to buy food/drink along the way and especially as noted earlier, at the end.
