Join the Northern California Chapter for a hike near Muir Beach in Marin as we hike along Redwood Creek and the Coastal Trail for some wonderful views of the Pacific Ocean. Total distance is 8 to 9 miles. This hike is not for beginners because the route has a gradual 1200 ft ascent and parts of the trail are rocky and uneven. In fact, hiking poles are highly recommended. Lunch is after the climb, so bring snacks to keep you going. After the hike, there is a beer stop for those so inclined.

Bring: Lunch, a liter of water, snacks, sunscreen, carpool money. Meet: Muir Beach Parking Lot (free parking) at 9:45 AM. Carpool: If you need a ride or can give one, post a message to this event listed on our Facebook Group page. Return: to cars at 4:30 PM. Directions: Figure one hour driving time from the Berkeley area. Take Hwy 580 across the Richmond Bridge, then south on Hwy 101 toward SF. Exit at Hwy 1 in Mill Valley and follow the signs toward Stinson Beach. Before you get to Stinson look for the Muir Beach sign or the white Pelican Inn on the left side of the road. Turn left at the inn and drive 1/4 mile to the Muir Beach Parking Lot. Restrooms available at the parking lot, but no water. At 10:00 AM, we leave the Muir Beach Parking Lot and drive 2 miles north to the Heather Cutoff Trailhead. Contact: Dick Duker at dduker2001@yahoo.com with questions.
