Next Hospitalero Training Session:

We are excited and pleased to announce the next Hospitalero Training session of 2023 will be held Friday, September 8, 2023 to Sunday, September 10, 2023 at the Howell Nature Center in Howell, MI. The venue is approximately one hour from both Detroit (DTW) and Lansing (LAN) airports. The training begins at 4:00 pm on Friday and ends at 4:00 pm on Sunday. You must attend the entire training to be certified. We will not hold the training for fewer than 15 participants.
Registration cost: $295.00. Includes two nights’ lodging, six meals (Friday dinner through Sunday lunch) and all training materials. Linens are not provided; please bring a sleeping bag, pillow case, towel and toiletries.
Participation is limited to 20. A minimum of 15 participants is required to hold the training session. Don’t delay, register today!
Do you want to learn what it takes to become an hospitalero supporting other pilgrims on the road to Santiago?
To attend you must:
- Have walked at least 100 km or biked at least 200 km of the Camino
- Have stayed in at least 2 non-private albergues
- Be a member of American Pilgrims on the Camino
- Be at least 18 years old by September 1, 2023
Note: Proof of Covid-19 vaccination and mask-wearing may be required during training if there’s a surge in infections.

Fee Waiver Application: American Pilgrims strives to make participation in our Hospitalero Trainings financially accessible to all who wish to participate. As a way to keep fees as low as possible, American Pilgrims covers the costs of the training sessions beyond the amount of registration fees collected. One registration fee waiver per session is available to a member who might not otherwise afford the training. Preference for the fee waiver will be given to students and to those willing to serve in one of the Spanish Federation albergues. Transportation to the training location is the responsibility of the attendee.
