As you surely know, July 25th is St. James Feast Day and in honor of the occasion the Colorado Front Range chapter of American Pilgrims is having a potluck picnic! (On the preceeding Saturday, the 24th.) The location is Denver’s Mamie Doud Eisenhower Park located east of South Colorado Blvd four blocks north of Hampden Avenue. (The High Line Canal runs right along the south edge of the park.) The picnic area is in the north central point in the park on Dartmouth Ave. The park has a nice playground. Have you just returned from the Camino? Bring your stories! And we extend a cordial invitation to spouses, SOs and any friends or acquaintances that might be interested in the Camino.

We’ll not try to organize the potluck nature of the event – it’s a potluck after all – so bring whatever picnic-appropriate dish you’d like. If you’re concerned about a potluck in The Time of COVID, you are of course welcome to bring your own picnic! We’ll provide soft drinks, paper plates and plastic utensils so for that purpose we’d like to have an RSVP through the REGISTER button above. There is a shelter near this site but we haven’t reserved it so we’ll have to play it by ear in case of inclement weather. You should think about bringing lawn chairs and, although there are picnic tables, some folding tables would be nice. We’ll have a hat out for small donations to cover the park permit cost and the cost of soft drinks and supplies.

Park rules: Glass bottles and containers are prohibited. 3.2% beer and wine are the only alcoholic beverage allowed in the parks and must be in cans. American Pilgrims’ insurance policy prohibits the presence of dogs at events. (Obviously exempting certified service animals.)

The shell ceremony returns! If you have definite plans to walk or cycle on the Camino for the first time later in 2021 and would like to receive a scallop shell and a blessing, let us know and we’ll come prepared.
