Update of noon, Thursday, August 22nd: We've filled the slots.

A labyrinth is an ancient symbol that relates to wholeness. It combines the imagery of the circle and the spiral into a meandering but purposeful path. The labyrinth represents a journey to our own center and back again out into the world. Labyrinths have long been associated with pilgrimage and the Camino is no exception.

Depending on what one wants to include, there are almost 50 labyrinths within a 25‑mile radius of central Denver. Joyce deToni-Hill, the Chapter’s spiritual guide, has selected two to visit. We’ll meet up at the home of one of the Chapter’s coordinators and, after a brief introduction to the agenda, we’ll carpool to the two sites. Often people walking a labyrinth choose to carry a small item in their hand – something to meditate on. A photo, a rock, even a scallop shell! Also many people choose to walk without shoes. If you wish to do that, be aware that both sites are outdoors and might not be pristine. Socks specifically for the sites and/or something to clean up with would be something to think about.

Afterward we’ll return to the starting point for – yes! – a paella potluck! The main event – the paella – will be provided but the potluck part will be all of the sides and desserts. And wine! (We’ll provide a selection of non-alcoholic beverages.) There will be a seafood, sausage and chicken paella and one for the non-carnivores. We’ll ask for a donation to cover the cost of the paella.

Given the, shall we say, intimate nature of a labyrinth experience not to mention the space limitation at the potluck site, we’re going to have to limit this event to 15 people. Sorry, but we've filled the available spots.

If you have definite, first-time plans for the Camino for later in 2019 and would like to receive a scallop shell and a blessing, let us know and we'll come prepared. One of the labyrinths would be the perfect place to do this!
