The NYC Chapter of the American Pilgrims on the Camino (APOC) will continue walking in Hudson Valley this spring. Join your fellow pilgrims for an approximately 4-mile/4-hour hike (round trip) at Breakneck Ridge via the Nimham Trail. This trail provides an easier but still challenging alternative to the summit for hikers who seek Breakneck’s stunning views of the Hudson River and Storm King Mountain while avoiding the steeper and more dangerous rock scramble: https://scenesfromthetrail.com/2021/07/08/breakneck-ridge-via-nimham-trail/

Together we will break for much needed rest and lunch at the lower lookout (flagpole area) which will be followed by our Annual Shell Ceremony. This special ceremony is offered to new and seasoned camino pilgrims. A limited number of 15 shells will be provided by APOC and presented to new pilgrims. Seasoned pilgrims are encouraged to bring their own shells and share special words, tips, anecdotes, etc. to those planning their first camino.

Please exercise extreme caution during this Caminito (it was named breakneck for a reason). The trail may be wet, muddy and slippery at times. And most drop-offs do not have guardrails installed. Always stay hydrated and walk only on the designated path or trail. For pilgrims with mobility and those suffering from vertigo may need to reconsider their physical participation for this activity.

* Terrain: combination of dirt/gravel/loose stones/boulders
* Difficulty: moderate to strenuous
* Elevation: ~ 625 feet of ascent and descent
