The pilgrim shell ceremony is an age-old tradition that is practiced all over the world. Pilgrims will be presented with a scallop shell to wear on their backpack, identifying them to all they meet as fellow pilgrims. The shell ceremony is an annual Chapter event. If you are planning to walk the Camino for the first time this year, and would like to receive a shell at the Ceremony, please see registration link. No need to RSVP if you aren’t requesting a shell.
In addition, pilgrims will receive the traditional blessing to help prepare the mind, body and spirit for the journey. We will be joined by Father Dave Dufresne, a fellow pilgrim with an interesting journey who will be our spiritual leader for the Ceremony.
If you are veteran pilgrim and have your shell but have not participated in the ceremony before, please come with your Camino spirit to show your support for these aspiring pilgrims. All are welcome!
