Albuquerque, NM: Albuquerque Chapter, Early Morning Walk

Please join us on Saturday, July 2nd for a walk in the bosque. We are looking forward to this opportunity to connect with others who have walked the Camino and those who are planning for their first Camino as well. Bringing your pack is great practice and gives you a chance to test your gear and troubleshoot. We will be carrying our toddler in a backpack and welcome conversation regarding hiking as a family from those who have experienced it!

Meet at 7:00 am at Valle del Bosque Park, 480 Sunset Rd SW, Albuquerque, NM 87105.

We will cross the park and enter the bosque then go north, cross under Central Ave, make a small loop near 49th st then head back towards the park, then go south, cross under Avenida Cesar Chavez, to the turn around point across from the baseball fields, then back to the park.

6 miles total, almost entirely flat on dirt trails with some sandy portions, easy hike.

There is shade for the majority of the route but a few sections are exposed so hats are helpful.

Bring plenty of water.

Poles are not necessary, but it’s great to practice with the gear you’ll actually use on the Camino and poles are super helpful on the Camino!

There is plenty of parking at Valle del Bosque and there is a very ill-maintained port-a-potty (we have never used it in two years of walking through this park several times a week).
