What is a Shell Ceremony? It is an American Pilgrims custom to confer a shell (symbol of Santiago) and traditional pilgrim’s blessing upon first-time pilgrims who will be walking or cycling the Camino in the coming months. All local pilgrims and pilgrims-to-be are welcome to join us for this gathering!
This Shell Ceremony will take place at the United Methodist Church of Santiago ((8190 NE 109th St, Mitchellville, IA 50169). It will take place mid-way through our planned hike along the Chichaqua Valley Trail at approximately 11:00 AM.
If you cannot participate in the hike (start time 9 AM at the NE 88th St trailhead parking lot north of Bondurant, IA), please join us for the Shell Ceremony!
Registration is needed so that we can prepare a shell for each participant.
