Mesa, AZ: Valley of the Sun Chapter, Full Moon Hike, Usery Park

Meet: 4:45 PM at Blevins Trailhead in Usery Mountain Regional Park (3939 E Usery Pass Rd, Mesa). Directions: Enter the Usery Mountain Regional Park (3939 E Usery Pass Rd, Mesa) entrance and show your Maricopa County Park Pass or pay $7 fee. You can ask the ranger for a map & directions or continue straight on Usery Park Rd to Blevins Trail Rd for 1.5 miles. You will pass a restroom on the left side and then see a large unpaved parking lot beyond it. Park there!

The Hunter’s Full Moon will rise at 5:39PM so we will begin our walk at dusk to gradually adjust to visibility. The leisurely hike will include the Blevins and Moon Rock (of course) Trails. Both trails are packed gravel with a few sandy washes and little elevation gain. We will begin watching the sunset as we walk west on Blevins Trail to Moon Rock. We will reconnect with Blevins trail and walk west into the moonrise over the Superstition Mountains with little light pollution.
BRING A FLASHLIGHT OR HEADLAMP and recommend wearing long pants or socks due to desert critters. You are welcome to BRING A BEVERAGE AND CAMP CHAIR for social hour after the hike
