Lost Dog Trail is a 4.2-mile out and back trail located in the Scottsdale Sonoran Preserve. The halfway point is the Taliesin Overlook, with a view of Taliesin West, the one-time winter home of Frank Lloyd Wright and current headquarters of the FLW Foundation.
The trail is rated as moderate with an elevation gain of 410 feet.
Bring: sturdy walking shoes, water, a hat, sunscreen and sunglasses and a snack if desired. Walking sticks are not required on this hike, but could be useful. There is no shade on this trail, except at the Trail Head.
Meet: Lost Dog Trailhead at 5:45 am (at the Ramada). Since it is going to be hot, we will begin promptly at 6 am, and the hike should take approximately 2-2.5 hours.
There are restrooms at the trailhead, drinking water, and a covered meeting area.
Stay home if you are sick or not feeling well.
If running late day of hike, call your hike leader: Pruitt @ 480-243-5326.
We will conduct a short blessing/shell ceremony at the trailhead immediately following the hike, for pilgrims who are heading for a Camino in May or June.
